Michigan & Wisconsin Motorcycle Trip
September 25 to October 10, 2006

What an adventure! Of all the things I’ve been privileged to do, this one is at the top of the list! In late September I began a journey on my 1998 Suzuki Intruder. After a very busy summer it was so incredibly refreshing and exhilarating. I traveled through sunshine and rain and even snow at times, in temperatures ranging from the mid 70’s to the lower 30’s. I put nearly 2000 miles on my bike. The fall colors were absolutely incredible and my photography doesn’t begin to do it justice. And to experience it on my bike with the wind in my face and the aroma of leaves in the air was as close as I’ve ever come to heaven on earth.

I’m a fairly organized and detail oriented person by nature. Typically when I take a trip I have it all planned out to a “T” several weeks in advance. Hotels are reserved, area attractions are mapped out, and when I leave, it generally goes like clockwork. So for this trip I decided to do something totally new for me: just hit the road and see where I end up! I forced myself to skip all the pre-trip planning. I packed a week’s worth of clothes, a tool kit, and my raingear and headed out!

Okay, I can’t resist saying it!  If you’ve never been on a motorcycle on a beautiful fall day, riding down a winding mountain road with the trees ablaze with color on every side, you haven’t completely lived yet! Countless times on my journey I was almost overwhelmed with joy at what I was experiencing. So many times my heart welled up with thanks and praise to God. I felt His love reaching out to me through the beauty that was mine to enjoy. I marveled at His creativity. I rejoiced in His generosity. And at times while cruising down roads like this one I was singing “How Great Thou Art” at the top of my lungs!
